MAC lipstick dupes?

Hey guys!

If you guys live in Australia and watch the news you would have seen that 'Cosmo Cosmetics' has just been caught for selling fake MAC products- in which we nearly fell into the trap- I even asked the shop keeper questions about the products and she informed me that it is illegal to sell fake MAC products and these are 100% genuine, yet i visited Cosmo Cosmetics today after that talk to find all the MAC products completely off shelf and they do not sell them anymore due to them being fake! When we saw the fake MAC lipsticks they were about $4 of the regular price and had all the same aspects of the original lipsticks including size, shape, font, smell etc (it just goes to show the amount of work people go into trying to sell fake products!) However, we were lucky enough not to purchase these lipsticks and instead buy four lipsticks that are supposed dupes to MAC lipsticks.

The brand is 'C-II' which is Cosmo cosmetics brand. I did a bit of research after reading about this issue with cosmo and found that as the lipsticks have no relationships with MAC that they would be safe to use as they do not claim to be anything else other then lipsticks.

Angel, Please Me, Pink Plaid, Rebel

The lipsticks do however have the same names as MAC lipsticks so we purchased angel, please me, pink plaid and rebel to see how they were.

The lipsticks cost $5.95 each which I think is fantastic for what they are. The packaging of the lipstick looks great as it's covered in a decorative pattern and you are able to see the lipstick colour at the bottom, but opening and closing the lipstick is terrible as they are very stiff and difficult.

Now to the lipsticks, they have the same name and finishes which was on of the factors that drawed us in. All the lipsticks apply soo creamy and are really pigmented and opaque on the lips. They also have amazing staying power and have left stains on my arms from the swatches- especially rebel!

Angel
The first lipstick we have is angel! MAC angel is a frost but this is the only lipstick that is different and it is a pearl! As we own the MAC angel we were able to compare it and they are exactly the same!!

Please Me
Please me is a matte shade thats a hot pink coral shade! Applies really creamy and remains creamy on the lips whilst giving a matte appearance.
Please Me
Pink plaid
Pink Plaid is a soft pink colour with blue undertone. It is matte shade but doesn't really appear matte on the lips.

Rebel
Rebel is so pigmented and amazing! A deep berry purple colour with a blue undertone. Its so creamy and has a beautiful satin finish.

I thought i would include a picture of the ingredients in the lipsticks after the big scam with fake mac products from Cosmo Cosmetics. I've had a lot of questions about the ingredients in the lipsticks and if there safe to use, as I'm no expert i compared it to my REAL MAC lipstick packet and found ingredients that were in both! However if you guys know of stuff that shouldn't be in lipsticks that you can see in the list let me know!! :)

Overall i like these lipsticks, i have had no reactions on my lips or arm when i have swacthed them and am pleasantly surprised considering the price. I am still cautious about the whole incident that panned out at Cosmo Cosmetics so will let you guys know if i have any incidents with these lipsticks.

What are your thoughts on these lipsticks?

Till next time,

  2. I was only using the information I was giving by the news. They claimed they had been caught and fair trading was dealing with them which involed removing all stock and dealing with people having rashes due to using the product.
